The three things my business coach does for me

I think it’s really important to “walk the walk” as a coach of any form, and part of that (for me) includes having my own business coach. I think during periods of growth and transition it is really important to have someone that can reflect your own thoughts back to you, and also hold you accountable to your goals.

I don’t think I realised the power of ongoing coaching at the start of my business journey. I thought it really nice to have someone help me sort out annual strategies or craft new packages. But the power and magic actually lies in working with someone longterm. Week in week out, my coach continues to help me in a few major areas.

So much so that when I was coming back from maternity leave, having her in my corner made the transition seamless. The level of support a coach can give you is such a unique relationship.

So three major things my business coach does for me, day in day out.

1. Focus. She helps me identify what I need to focus on. So I am not getting caught up in details or non-money making activities. It sounds simple, because it is. We are often our own worst enemy in business, self sabotaging and distracting ourselves from success. My coach and I identify what my goals are and then identify my focus areas that are aligned with my goals.
I am guilty of falling prey to unnecessary tasks in my business, better handled by someone else. And it is SO good to have someone call you out on that and support your decision to delegate.

2. Decide. If I have an idea bouncing around in my head, or something I keep thinking of. She helps me decide exactly what we are going to do with that idea. Are we going to take action? Or is it going to be something for the future?
Something as simple as making a decision, can help reduce the mental load. It can take away stress and brainpower you didn’t realise you were using. Deciding is actually one of the most powerful things that my coach supports me in.

3. Accountability. Deciding and accountability go together like wine and cheese. Once a decision is made, it’s time to execute. I know with certainty that launches and group programs I have wouldn’t have gotten wings as quickly in my desired timeline if I didn’t have my coach holding me to account.

Accountability is so much more than just a check in buddy. It is someone calling you out when you are procrastinating or self sabotaging. It is the ability to work through the blocks and hurdles that are stopping you from accomplishing your goals.
