The four strategies that led me to double my income last year

Do you ever wonder what happens behind the scenes of those growth numbers you see online?

I know I love hearing what went into them and at one point last year I doubled my income in five months. Seriously, doubled in 5 months. I’d like to take you behind the scenes as I break down the four strategies that led me to double my income in five months. And we are talking profit, no vanity metrics around here. 

 

1. Childcare and set workdays

I had floating daycare days, nothing was concrete. Everything had a huge amount of flexibility including my workdays. This made it entirely too easy to procrastinate, deprioritise work, and make huge gaps in my work schedule. 

While I love the flexibility, the level I was operating at wasn’t conducive to five-figure months or multi-five figures. 

I made a big shift. Locking down three daycare days a week. Committing to set workdays. Opening my client calendar a heck of a lot more. 

 

2. Show up

You may have read my blog about how I believe every strategy needs 90 days to be successful. And that is what I decided to do. Start showing up in my business and being super visible and accessible. 

I didn’t try a bunch of strategies at once. I started simply with posts and stories. When those felt in control I added email marketing and live streams. 

I eventually went on to add Instagram reels and Facebook groups.  Now I am working on blogs and Pinterest. 

But here’s the thing. I never stopped a strategy for the sake of another. I made the strategy work, built a system, and then moved on to the next one. 

 

3. Started saying no

I tell my clients all the time to simplify their offers and to say no to projects that aren’t a good fit. But I wasn’t taking my own advice. 

When I started saying no to miscellaneous work that is when a major shift happened in my business. I moved from doing random jobs here and there to being super-specific. 

Right now there are only a handful of ways to work with me. 

I also have my free selling with strength call. But that’s it. There aren’t a million packages and options. 

This simplicity combined with saying no, transformed my business. 

 

4. Hired my own coach

I had dabbled before with a business coach. Usually working in a one-off strategy session. But I had never done something like commit to five months of intense growth.

Having my own coach led to a lot of things- clarity and accountability were the two most prominent. It was a game-changer committing to that level of investment in myself. I could not be happier that I did!
