How to sell without the yuck factor
Dec 14, 2021
I am so passionate about sales because it is often the biggest weakness AND the biggest opportunity for businesses.
So many people have money issues, valuing themselves, paying for things, identifying worth, asking for sales. It is literally THE thing that can grow your business. Make more sales, make more money.
I did some market research late last year and asked 15 women what they wanted to do to grow their business. Most of them said to make more sales.
But the things that held them back were the strategy and mindset to put it all together and effectively execute a sales strategy. Several said selling felt like a chore, it wasn’t enjoyable or fun.
Now sales strategy sounds fancy- and y'all selling is not fancy. It's actually super simple. It's about confidence and connection. But you have to get both of those things right. You can't have all the connection in the world with your audience and no confidence to back yourself and start selling.
It's got to be both.
So today we are diving into the top mistake stunting your growth.
Before we go a step further I want to say packaging and pricing is not the mistake. But it IS a mistake I see a lot. Bad packaging, pricing that doesn't make sense will of course turn into an objection for your customer.
But really we never ever ever want price to be the objection- becacuse I think that is an easy fix. there are strategies to work around the price objections- and that is for another day.
If you are going to focus on one thing. It is building authentic relationships.
The reason we show up on Instagram is to build a relationship.
The reason we create content is to build a relationship.
The reason we send emails is to build a relationship.
The reason we send DMs or PMs is to build a relationship.
And if we aren't building a relationship we sure as heck are furthering them.
It now takes something like 32 touchpoints from initial contact for a sale to convert. It used to be 7. But there is now so much media, so much advertising, so much content marketing, our brains have a natural filter on them that it takes 32 times to create that sale.
But after 32 times you are more likely to buy from the person you like, know and trust.
I can not tell you the number of times that I have gotten on a call with a client for the first time and they say oh my gosh Tori- I feel like I know you.
They already feel as though we have a relationship because of my visibility strategy.
I'm not hanging out on marketing channels just talking about group coaching or 1:1 coaching and how amazing I am at it. I am delivering value and delivering information to create relationships.
Plus I LOVE personal outreach.
I think the trend used to push people from Facebook ads to a lead generator to an offer. A relatively low touch process.
But now people want more. Everyone is smarter. Everyone is savvier. Especially thanks to covid and the online market place becoming so crowded. We have to work harder and smarter to foster those relationships.
So when you are doing things in your business ask yourself how they are creating new relationships or furthering existing ones.
There are three bajillion ways to create relationships. Podcacsts, IGTVS, emails, IG, Twitter, LinkedIn, Snaphchat, Website, Google My Business.
But it has to make sense to your business. It has to be aligned to you and your customer.
Don’t think of your customer as a blank face in an anonymous crowd. How can you connect with them?
