16 simple strategies to move the needle in your business

Jun 15, 2021

Sometimes you just need a short and snappy thing to move the needle in your business THIS week.

Now I truly believe any strategy needs 90 days to flourish and truly work. You can check out my blog here about it.

But I think there are still some actions people often forget about that can make a difference in their business and bottom line.

  1. Follow up on every single quote ā£ā£
When was the last time you went through all of your quotes and inquiries? Hopefully, you have a pretty solid follow-up system and you’ve been consistently in touch with prospects. If not, it’s probably a good idea to start considering a follow-up system. But this could be the thing that moves the needle today! (I think something like 80% of sales happens in the follow-up).
  2. Get on the phone and talk to your customers
Here’s the truth, it is way easier to say no by email than the phone. So if you can, pick up the phone and have a chat. Get back in touch with old customers, it’s easier to keep a customer than win a new one. So show those oldies some love and they might return the favour.
  3. Send an email blastā£ā£
Haven’t sent an email in a while? It's definitely time to get back in touch with your list. Is there a special offer, a freebie, or some value-packed information you can send? Before you go down the email rabbit hole- just make sure it offers THEM value.
  4. Promote your freebie or opt-inā£ā£
When was the last time you talked about your freebie? Maybe it’s an ebook, a health check, a free call, or a free shipping code. Make sure you talk about it! People won’t take advantage if they don’t know it exists.
  5. Create a new freebieā£ā£
If you don’t have a lead generator/opt-in/ freebie. Now is the time to do it or create a new one if it feels a bit flat. Using a program like Mailchimp or flodesk, it is so easy to have a freebie delivered straight to your audience’s inbox.
  6. Rename your packages
One of my clients renamed her packages and got seven bookings from the rename! We renamed them and made the value super visible and apparent. It immediately translated to sales. Talk about a serious success.
  7. Attend a networking event
If you’re remote or rural, there is definitely still the opportunity to attend an online networking event. I try to host a quarterly networking event over at Big Ideas Rural.
Networking is great for making new connections and identifying new opportunities.
  8. Say YES to opportunities to promote your business and get in front of new audiences ā£ā£
If you are wanting to grow, then you’re going to have to say YES to visibility opportunities. Think of ways you can build your profile. Maybe you pitch yourself as a podcast guest? Do a collaboration or giveaway with another business? Start thinking of ways to build your profile.
  9. Engage with your audience, leave lots of comments ā£ā£
Instead of spending time mindlessly scrolling socials. Go through your followers and leave lots of comments. Shower them with love!
  10. Send out an SMS blastā£ā£
This is a great way that can be an alternative traffic generator. Usually, we think of digital as socials, emails, and websites- but think outside the square and send an SMS. Make sure it’s got a clear CTA!
  11. Write a guest blogā£ā£
This is another great way to build visibility and a profile for your business. Plus it is a great way to build your expert status.
  12. Guest on a podcastā£ā£
If you’ve never pitched a podcast, do it today. Start by listening to the podcast you’d like to go on and think about how you could be a good fit as a guest.
  13. Start an IGTV seriesā£ā£
I’m going to say don’t start this one unless you plan to give it a red-hot crack. But planning an IGTV series could be a great change of pace for your audience and the content you’re creating.
  14. Launch your own blogā£ā£
As above. Don’t start this and then half-ass it. Go all in and launch your own blog. If you’re wondering how to start blogging head here
  15. Reward your loyal customers with a special offerā£
I am a big fan of rewarding loyalty rather than discounting to win new customers. So think about what you can do to reward your existing customers!
  16. Ask for testimonialsā£
I believe that action drives action. So by reaching out to customers for testimonials you are opening up communication channels and creating opportunities for customers to work with you further or buy more.
